Heald Green Methodist Church on Saturday 14th May at 7.30pm

For the secibd concert in our Golden Jubilee 50th Year celebrations the choir is helping another organisation celebrating its 50th year. That is St. Ann’s Hospice in Heald Green. We are singing at a fund-raising event for the Hospice in Heald Green Methodist Church, Brown Lane, Heald Green, SK8 3RR on Saturday 14th May at 7.30pm. The 17th May is the actual date on which the Hospice was founded 50 years ago, so the timing is terrific!

Admission is £10 on the door with plenty of room, or tickets are available from 07790 363722 or publicity@thelaurencesingers.org.uk and will include refreshments.

The programme will have the variety of musical items for which the choir is very well known. It will include classical pieces – excerpt from Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’; spirituals- including ‘When the Saints go marching in’; the Great American Songbook – ‘Let’s call the whole thing off and ‘Skylark’ with piano and flute; British folk songs and items specific to the 50th Year celebrations for both organisations. A local composer has written a piece especially for the Laurence Singers called ‘A Golden Year’ and for the Hospice a piece by John Rutter ‘A Flower Remembered’ which has the haunting last phrase “We will remember” repeated and repeated – a poignant reference to the Hospice’s work. The choir’s brilliant accompanist, Lauren, will play two solos including ‘Clair de Lune’ by Debussy.

Do come and join us and support St Ann’s Hospice.
